Cathedral Park Wedding
Killer wedding ceremony location, incredible couple and what has just became one of my fav cities, Portland. A great start to the 2015 wedding season. It was an awesome few days exploring Portland and then shooting a beautiful wedding at Cathedral Park. Cathedral Park is an incredible site for a wedding ceremony. I was already excited to shoot their wedding because they’re great friends and when I saw the ceremony site… wow! The ceremony site is set underneath the St John’s Bridge, a beautiful expansion bridge designed by the same person who designed the Golden Gate Bridge.
Their reception was at the very cool Village Ballroom in Portland. A great wedding venue in an awesome neighborhood.
Congratulations, Natalia and James! And thanks for introducing me to Portland.
When Natalia mentioned she’d love a shot on St John’s Bridge but that it probably wasn’t possible, I knew I’d get the shot.
The waterfront in Portland is an awesome spot for wedding photos.
A train stopping at the intersection we needed to cross was a cool opportunity for some killer wedding photos!
A contemplative moment on the ride to Cathedral Park.
You can see why I’d love to shoot another Cathedral Park wedding!
…or maybe shoot a few Cathedral Park wedding!
I love all the emotion at a wedding. It’s why I do this.
Cathedral Park is simply stunning.
The reception was at Village Ballroom in Portland.
A great time was had by all : )
Oregon Destination Wedding
Oregon Destination Wedding
I flew into Portland this morning to shoot a wedding at Cathedral Park on Saturday. Natalia and James picked me up at the airport and we had a brunch and then picked up their dog Hendrix and went for a walk in Forest Park in Portland. I should backtrack a bit. You know it’s going to be an awesome wedding to shoot when the bride and groom meet you as soon as you pass security and greet you with a big hug. Awesome couple. Okay, back to the park. : ) Forest Park in Portland is a beautiful oasis in the city and it was great to hang out with Natalia and James and chat a little about their wedding. And it was also awesome to hang out with their boxer, Hendrix and get my dog fix.
I’ve always wanted to do an Oregon destination wedding so I was psyched when Natalia called me last year and asked me to photograph her wedding at Cathedral Park in Portland. I’m looking forward to shooting the their wedding on Saturday! Their reception is going to be at the Village Ballroom in Portland.
We went for walk in Forest Park after brunch. It wasn’t a shoot but I had to get a shot of them with this awesome light and killer setting.
The photos between the photos are often my favs.
Hendrix sat still the two seconds I needed to get this cool portrait.
Welcome to spring in the Rockies! I shot this first pic of the Stanley Hotel one afternoon last week and the photo below it the next morning. This is such typical weather for Colorado in the spring. Snowy and cold one day and sunny and seventy degrees the next.
The Stanley Hotel is an awesome wedding venue. I always love photographing weddings there because there are so many beautiful backdrops and the inside of the hotel has so many cool settings to work with. There are several wedding ceremony sites with stunning backdrops of the mountains at the Stanley Hotel. They have recently added a ceremony site that is a bit off to the side of the hotel, nestled in a stand of pine trees with the Rocky Mountains in the background. Sort of perfect for a Colorado mountain wedding. There is also the option of getting married on the front lawn directly in front of the hotel. It’s cool for photos of the hotel in the background during the ceremony. And the Continental Divide looks pretty amazing in the other direction. There’s also a beautiful gazebo ceremony site for smaller ceremonies.
The reception options at the Stanley Hotel are also awesome. The MacGregor Room is a beautiful choice for a wedding reception. It’s probably the most frequent choice of folks holding their reception at the hotel but my fav room is the Music Room. It is a bit smaller, maybe for up to 100 guests or so, but the room is beautiful and the light for photography rocks! it’s really all about the pics : ) These are just a couple of the reception room options at the Stanley Hotel. Whatever you go with, you’ll have an incredible Colorado mountain wedding!
I always enjoy photographing weddings at the Stanley Hotel, so many incredible views.
The Stanley Hotel is a great choice for a winter wedding. Beautiful outside and incredible inside.
